We are excited to announce our return this fall! Each month, the Cursed Carbuncle will host an auction featuring magical, occult, and curious oddities acquired during our DMed events. These items are rare, elusive, and sometimes dangerous.

Who We Are
Cursed Carbuncle is run by C'Sien Zoth, Lakin Chase, Oswin Mercer, and Matilda Mercer. Join us in crafting a rich world of storytelling and entertainment for the FFXIV roleplay community. Participate in weekly in-game roleplay, social events, magical item auctions, and PF2E-inspired DMed events.

Our Story
Founded by C'Sien Zoth, the Cursed Carbuncle is a small curiosity shop and free company located in the picturesque La Noscea countryside. We hold a monthly auction of rare, cursed, and odd magical items discovered during the Company’s missions (TTRPG Nights) on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 5 PM Pacific. We also host a "Coffee Hour" on the 1st Sunday of the month at 5 PM Pacific.

Our mission is to provide adventurers, researchers, and curious minds from Etheirys with a space for work, study, and relaxation. The Cursed Carbuncle values its bonds with the local community and offers protection and assistance to those in need.

Our Events
Cursed Carbuncle hosts bi-monthly DMed events. For more information, please check our "Events" tab. Our offerings include DMed PF2E-style TTRPG nights, levequest nights, socials, monthly auctions, and open nights.

In-Character Rules
Respect Free Company Leadership
Show proper deference to the Curator and Archivists. Disrespect in any form—be it insults, slander, or dishonor—toward the Free Company's leadership will not be tolerated.

Respect Your Fellows
Treat fellow members and patrons with the utmost respect. Infighting among members is strictly forbidden and will be met with severe penalties. Our patrons are the heart of the establishment; their well-being and satisfaction are paramount.

Respect the Free Company
As a member of "The Cursed Carbuncle," you represent our name and ideals. You are expected to embody these rules at all times and uphold our reputation.

Handling Occult and Magical Items
Any occult or magical items discovered during expeditions or assignments must be returned directly to the Curator. These artifacts, often imbued with untold power or danger, are to be treated with the utmost care. Some may possess unpredictable or hazardous effects, and improper handling could endanger both the bearer and the Free Company as a whole.

To ensure safety, all such items must be secured within an auracite-weave bag upon retrieval, which provides warding against potentially harmful energies. Under no circumstances should items be kept on your person or left unattended. Once returned, they must be processed and cataloged by the Archivists before they can be placed in the vault. Skipping this procedure could compromise the entire collection or the safety of our members.

Archives & Auction House
Our archives serve as a cabinet of curiosities, filled with alchemical supplies, occult artifacts, rare books, and luxury goods. Once per moon, we host an exclusive auction, offering particularly valuable items to discerning patrons. Members are expected to assist in the curation, organization, and operation of this vital part of our Free Company. Running both the Auction & Coffee House, and your contributions will ensure the archive's continued success.

Compensation & Rewards
Once items are identified, a decision will be made regarding whether they are placed in our vaults or auctioned off. Members will be compensated fairly, either through a percentage of gil from the auction or by receiving an item not approved for sale, equating to the percentage they would have earned in gil.

If items are provided to us by investors, a commission will be offered to them in the form of a percentage of the auction proceeds. Additionally, consumables such as potions, rations, and other necessary supplies will be provided for assignments, ensuring members need not rely on external merchants. Contributions to our coffee house or apothecary operations will be rewarded accordingly.

Infractions & Consequences
Breaking these rules may result in actions ranging from a sharp reprimand to a formal meeting with the Curator and Archivists. In more severe cases, privileges may be revoked, and expulsion from the Free Company may be considered. By joining, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to these rules, and any punishment will correspond with the severity of the offense.

OOC Rules

NOTICE
All members must follow both in-character and out-of-character rules. Failure to do so may result in being asked to leave the Free Company. Thank you for your understanding!

Square Enix TOS
Comply with FFXIV/Square Enix's Terms of Service, avoiding botting, cheating, hacking, and real-money trading (RMT).

General OOC Conduct
Harassment of other players will not be tolerated, and members should avoid engaging in out-of-character (OOC) drama. Bigotry and hateful behavior may lead to removal from the community. Discussions of real-world politics, religion, or socio-political issues are not permitted in chat.

No NSFW Content
Please refrain from posting NSFW (not safe for work) imagery or writing anywhere in our Discord. We are not a dating service and do not engage in erotic roleplay (ERP).

Conflict Resolution
If you have a concern, please speak with the Officers first before contacting the FC Leader. We will address any issues through the appropriate channels.

Activity Expectations
We encourage all members to be active and involved. If you sign up for a DMed event, please attend, as your presence is important for everyone involved. Remember that real life always comes before gaming.

Streaming Etiquette
All DMed TTRPG events are streamed. Ensure you have a good microphone and headset for clear communication, and follow Twitch and YouTube’s Terms of Service. Be considerate of others and avoid excessive cross-talk. Participation in DMed games is optional.

General Expectations
As members of this Free Company, it is essential to share the spotlight and support one another. Be proactive in roleplay and contribute to the experience; don’t wait for guidance. Seek out roleplay opportunities if events aren't scheduled.

Prioritizing Real Life
Real life takes precedence, and your health and well-being are important. Please take breaks or hiatuses as needed. If you can't attend a DMed event, just let us know.

Roleplay Guidelines
By joining our Free Company, you acknowledge that in-character (IC) actions will have IC consequences. Maintain clear boundaries between IC and out-of-character (OOC) interactions. Avoid godmoding or powerplaying, and respect others' comfort levels; if someone asks you to stop something OOCly, please do so.

Lore Compliance
We welcome lore-compliant characters of various alignments. However, we do not accept Ascians, half beastfolk, lore-breaking characters, purely evil characters, Sin Eaters, or others. Currently, we are not accepting characters from other shards, although this may change in the future. Any character from Dalmasca must align with FFXIV's lore regarding Dalmasca, not that of FFXII. Thank you for your understanding!

Casual Roleplay

Join us for our monthly Coffee Hour, held on the 1st Sunday of each month at 5 PM Pacific. This event takes place in the same location as our auction house and storefront, providing a relaxed atmosphere for members to gather and socialize.

Bi-Monthly DMed Events

We host optional, bi-monthly DMed events run and streamed on Twitch and YouTube by our current Storytellers. Each event typically lasts about 3 hours and is facilitated by a dedicated Dungeon Master. We utilize the Pathfinder 2E (PF2E) system for these sessions via Forge VTT, aiming to deliver a richer, story-focused experience. Participation in these events is not required and is intended for small-group play.

Streamed TTRPG Games

As mentioned, our bi-monthly DMed Roleplay sessions are streamed live on Twitch. If you're interested in joining our PF2E TTRPG Nights, please consider joining our Discord for more information. Note the following rules for participation:

1. All players must understand that the game is streamed and confirm their comfort with this. We reserve the right to remove or edit any stream deemed unfit for viewer consumption, though we will consider reasonable removal requests if discussed.

2. Players must sign up in the appropriate channel at least one week before the game’s live date.

3. A character sheet must be approved via Pathbuilder at least one week prior to the game.

4. We exclusively use Forge/Foundry VTT for our games. Please ensure you sign up at least one week before the live date; additional information is available in our Discord.

5. All players should have a functional headset and microphone.

6. To minimize disruptions, hot-mics will be muted, and players are encouraged to use push-to-talk.

7. Be considerate of cross-talk during sessions.

8. The Dungeon Master has the final say in all decisions regarding calls, rules, player inclusion, and other matters.

9. These rules may be updated as necessary.
